Villa Tamanca

Las Manchas is a town that belongs to the municipalities of El Paso and Los Llanos de Aridane and is a tourist and cultural focus of both municipalities. Mainly because of the volcanic area, Las Manchas belongs to an area of historical and geographical interest. What was mainly visible before the end of 2021 over the partly volcanic ground with its dark, cake-crumble-like surface, is now directly visible on the new volcanic cone only 2 km away.

Because Las Manchas was cut off from the rest of the Aridane Valley by the lava flow (it is now connected to Los Llanos again via the new lava road), it takes a little longer than before to get to well-known hiking areas such as the Caldera de Taburiente. You could say that you now have to add about 20 minutes to the known time units. At least the beach, namely the beautiful sandy bay of Charco Verde, is just as fast as before (about 15 minutes drive).

Things to see in Las Manchas:
the Plaza La Glorieta by mosaic artist Luis Morrera, the Wine Museum, the Ermita de San Nicolas, the lava and volcano visitor centre 'Caños de Fuego'.

Los Llanos, our secret island capital, is about 10 km away and offers guests as well as locals a pretty old town centre with a large, laurel-lined plaza and church as well as several shopping streets with, among others, 2 art galleries. A little away from the centre, you can visit the beautifully landscaped park with sculptures by the local artist Luis Morrera as well as a fountain and carp pond and taste homemade ice cream delicacies opposite the park. In Los Llanos you will of course also find a post office, pharmacies, several medical centres and a museum.

On the way to Los Llanos, you will pass through the partially preserved La Laguna (where the lava road ends). Here is a wonderful breakfast café with an inner courtyard terrace laid out as a garden - the "Palmerita Café", which has reopened its doors to guests since December 2022 and spoils its guests with fresh, mainly organic/locally grown ingredients as well as design & atmosphere. Staff/management are young, modern and creative. You should definitely treat yourself to a hearty breakfast here.

Towels and bed linen changed once a week, please bring your own beach towels.
The landlord rents out two mountain bikes with helmets on site, other bikes can be rented from the local bike hire shops or you can bring your own.
