La Palma

La Palma

San Miguel de la Palma is the most northwestern island of the Canary Islands in the Atlantic Ocean. Its origin is volcanic and has formed with many volcanic craters and lava flows. In its center, in the National Park Caldera de Taburiente, the largest volcanic caldera in the world, is an inactive volcano.

La Palma is known as "la Isla Bonita", the beautiful island. Mainly because of its laurel forests, the Canary Island pine forests that collect water directly from the clouds, creating an atmospheric phenomenon known as horinzontal rain. The mild climate allows its visitors to enjoy the island. The island has 11 different microclimates. In the middle of the island is a tunnel that crosses the mountain range that separates the island.it is known as the weather tunnel "the wind tunnel", it can enter from the fog to the sun.

Which makes it a place for its orography unique in the world and which will send good energies into your soul.

HikersNature lovers and sun worshippers will be delighted by the incomparable charm.

Because of its location in the world and the cleanliness of the air, scientists have installed on the Roque de los Muchachos, with 2426m height the highest mountain of La Palma a chain of stene observatory, one of which is the largest astronomical telescope of the northern hemisphere, the GRANTECAN (Gran Telecopio de Canarias) with its 10.40 meter diameters.or even Cherenkov telescopes for gamma ray measurement. Currently, the location of the new TMT giant telescope is being discussed as an alternative site in Hawaii.

The forest fires, due to the volcanic eruptions, have stimulated the growth of an adaptation of the Canary Island pine to the environment, which regenerates in 8 to 10 years after the passage of the fire. After only one year, the young pine needles sprout from the charred bark of the pines.

Be impressed by the contrasting landscapes of pine forests, laurel forests, Vineyardsbanana plantations, various fruit plantations, which are particularly tropical due to the climate of the island, to deep gorges or coves and hidden Beaches.

La Palma invites its passive or active holidaymakers to take part in sporting activities such as Hiking, Mountain bike- or Horseback Riding Tours and much more, such as a Boat tripto get to know the island better from the sea, with sightings of dolphins, whales and all kinds of marine fauna.

One of the characteristics of the Canary Islands is their friendly population. Their villages have their own special charm and their towns are full of shops where you can buy a souvenir, a blouse to buy this holiday or a wine from the island. Do not miss the many Restaurants on La Palmawhich, in addition to the typical Canarian cuisine with its unmistakable "papas arrugadas" (wrinkled potatoes) and its famous "mojos" sauces and avant-garde cuisine, also have surprises such as vegan and vegetarian food and dishes for lactose and gluten allergy sufferers. You can also visit small restaurants on the coast to taste fresh fish or seafood from the island.
The architecture of their houses or our holiday homes has walls made of black lava stones and their roofs are made of tea wood (the heart of the Canary Island pines).
The beaches of La Palma are of black sand, ideal for sun worshippers, and have small coves where you can swim in the Atlantic, often just for yourself.

We would like to recommend a book by an author who lives on the island to express this feeling that the "beautiful island" expresses.

La Palma with its diverse settings and nature is the perfect location for shooting films, documentaries, television programs and commercials. What from the government facilitates such productions. An example of this is the filming of the Film "La Palma" by director Erec Brehmer, in which actors Marlen Lohse and Daniel Strasse were involved.
